FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Why don't you accept insurance?

Insurance companies dictate the type of therapy provided, the number and frequency of sessions, require identifying and private information, and only reimburse for particular issues. This results in a scripted experience that often does not meet personal needs, is restrictive, impedes your experience in therapy, and may not reimburse for the particular issue that has brought you to therapy.

Will my insurance reimburse?

Perhaps.  I am happy to provide a "superbill" that can be submitted to your insurance provider by you.  There is no guarantee of reimbursement even with provision of a superbill.  It is your responsibility to understand your benefits and reimbursement rates.  It is also your responsibility to submit the superbill.

What is a "superbill?"

A superbill is a document required by your insurance company to seek reimbursement for an out-of-network provider.  Generally, it is an itemized list of services received.

What is your cancellation/late policy?

The time of your appointment is set aside just for you.  24 hours (1 day) notice is required for cancelled or re-scheduled appointments.  The full fee will be charged for missed sessions without such notification.

How long does it take to get an LCSW?

The State of Wisconsin requires 1 hour of supervision per 40 hours of clinical work for a total of 3,000 clinical hours.  1,000 of those hours must be face-to-face client hours. In total, this requires a minimum of 75 clinical supervision hours and will take at least 1.5 years.

How do I schedule an appointment?

There are several ways to schedule an appointment.  You can select the book an appointment button on the top right of the website, or you can reach out to me through email or phone, which can be found on the "contact" segment of the website.
